This poster was a collaboration with Estria Miyashiro, and Oakland-based muralist and graffiti legend. We developed this piece for the protests against the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles during the summer of 2000.
The piece addresses the corruption of the Republican & Democratic parties by Corporate America. The mass mobilization in Los Angeles called for living wages, decent public schools, affordable and accessible healthcare and housing, and a safe, healthy environment.
We demanded economic and social justice, respect, the right to union representation and fair trade. We demanded a system that put people before profits.
The protests at the Democratic National Convention and the Republication National Convention disrupted "business as usual" and symbolized the growing power of the anti-globalization movement.
