Collage with Screenprint, Linoleum Block, and Photo Transfer Elements on Cotton Rag Paper.
22.5 x 15 inches

This piece is one in a duo of fine art collages celebrating my love for cooking meals that use ingredients from the soil. The work honors the joy that comes alive in my kitchen - the plants, the leafy greens, the vegetables and fruits.

My love language is showing care for others by preparing amazing plant-based dishes. I love tasting food and then using my taste buds to identify the elements in a dish, so that I can later replicate it with my own approach. Since I was a kid, I enjoyed cooking for my parents. When I left home for college, I took my family’s recipes with me and created new ones that were a hybrid of my Peruvian culture and the Mexican and Asian cultures I had grown up with. I saw myself as a culture keeper of food wisdom.

In 2021, I began experimenting with creating collages about food that featured individually printed food elements and receptacles. The production process for my large-sized early food series was incredibly meticulous. After getting comfortable with these large still lifes, I transitioned to smaller formats such as this one in 2022.
