I developed this poster to celebrate the resistance to an unjust law in Arizona, SB1070, known as the “show me your papers” law. Senate Bill 1070, or SB 1070, was signed into law on April 23, 2010 by Arizona Governor Jan Brewer. The anti-immigrant law promoted and perpetuated racial profiling and caused outrage throughout the country. It triggered boycotts of the state by artists, musicians and athletes. I was supporting the organizers in Arizona with artworks like this that depicted people who refused to comply with the law.
