Apart But Connected EV 3/24
This print series reflects how we remained connected throughout 2020 despite being spatially separated during the first year of the pandemic. Together, the shapes form an interconnected ecosystem. Together, the shapes fit into each other creating a beautiful composition, which is a metaphor for the power that people have when they come together in community.
Yet, the shapes do not touch, which represents the government mandates to stay spatially separated in order to reduce contagion of the virus. I had fun with this series because it was the first time that I composed a piece with text on the border instead of the middle area. I also experimented with having lines in the background that could hold all the components together. I enjoyed thinking about shapes as symbols of human connection.
When I launched this highly limited edition of 24 prints, I donated a portion of the sales to farm workers in need of protective gear due to the wildfires, which will continue through the remainder of the fall.
