Big Sur Act II.III
This is one in a series of collages on wood that celebrates one of my favorite places to write and reflect: Big Sur.
I started going to Big Sur in 2021 as I was working on my film about womb healing. I needed to be at a place where I could delve into my memories and sit with some of the generational family trauma that I was carrying. I fell in love with the land as it brought out a really beautiful part of my story.
There was an exercise that my writing coach had me do, which was to consider what I would do if I only had one year to live. As I was reflecting on this question, I would stare out into the beautiful ocean, which I depict in this series.
These wood panels are elaborately created, every single pattern is created through either screenprint or linoleum block printing. All elements are cut out, assembled and pasted with focus and care by myself and my team.
