Big Sur Medicine 1
These collages on wood celebrate one of my favorite places to write and reflect. I started going to Big Sur in 2021 as I was working on my film about womb healing. Big Sur has become a cherished sanctuary for self-reflection and creative expression.
This place, with its nurturing embrace, provided the space for me to delve into the depths of my memories, confront family traumas, and unearth the beautiful narratives that shape my story. I fell in love with the land and it brought out a really beautiful part of my story.
There was an exercise that my creative doula had me do, which was to consider what I would do if I only had one year to live. As I was reflecting on this question, I was staring out into a beautiful view of the ocean that I will never forget.
These wood panels serve as tangible reflections of the profound impact Big Sur has had on my creative process. Each panel is meticulously crafted, with intricate patterns painstakingly brought to life through the meticulous practice of screenprinting or linoleum block printing.
