Caterpillar in Chrysalis

This oversize woodblock is a testament to the transformation that I experience when I travel, explore new places, and learn how to thrive as an independent and free person. The oversize linoleum block was commissioned by the San Francisco Center for the Book’s annual Roadworks festival, in which they print oversize works using a steam roller. The two color print depicts a figure in transformation from a caterpillar into a powerful butterfly. The figure has their hand extended to welcome new experiences and new people.
