Favi’s Plant Babies 9

This collage is a love letter to the many plant babies I care for. By nurturing a wide range of plant species, I experience the wisdom and quiet intelligence of nature, which gently reconnects me to my ancestors. Tending plants has become a way for me to heal, to resist the harshness of the concrete world I grew up in, and to slowly repair my relationship with the living world. In this series, I use soft, round, playful shapes to lovingly personify each of my “plantcestors.” The plants and vases are formed from linoleum block patterns carved from my drawings. Each still life holds a small, intimate essence of my home.
