Frida Bandida

Frida Kahlo is one of the artists that has most influenced me because she is the first Latina artist I ever learned about in my adolescence. In her paintings, she addressed issues of sexuality, pregnancy, and being a woman in Mexican society, which is known for its machista culture. I absolutely love her work as a record of her own suffering and triumphs. Although she is a big inspiration to me, I’ve only created one art piece about her which I did for a coloring book by the Justseeds Collective about artists revolutionaries throughout history.
