Hummingbird

This piece is part of a suite of experimental monotypes printed at Mullowney Studios in San Francisco, CA. Throughout 2013, I was growing more comfortable with my unique approach to monotyping, and was experimenting with different brayer sizes and stencils, at times adding some scratches on to the rolled ink. I also experimented with the application and viscosity of the ink, covering the surface of the plexiglass with mineral spirits.

This body of work incorporates my signature color palette of yellow, orange, and turquoise. The piece is named after a migratory bird, the hummingbird.
