International Migrant's Day 2010

This piece was commissioned by Public Services International (PSI), a union based in Geneva, Switzerland, that represented 650 public sector trade unions and their 20 million public sector workers – the majority of whom were women.

The piece celebrates International Migrants Day with an emphasis on the millions of women migrant health care workers that care for the world’s sick.

International Migrants Day takes place every year on December 18th. This day provides an opportunity to highlight important issues affecting migrant communities. It is also a reminder of the rights guaranteed to all migrants by the International Migrant Convention of the United Nations, and the need for all nations to approve the convention and adopt its standards.
