This poster is part of a series of feminist reactions in 2012, as politicians and conservatives waged an all-out war on women's bodies—threatening our access to healthcare, our right to birth control, and our right to free, accessible, and safe abortion. 2012 was a special year for me because it’s when I came out about my abortions. The harmful policies of 2011 inspired this poster series, as thirty-six states enacted a then-record ninety-two new laws that restricted safe, legal abortions and targeted abortion providers. The attacks on abortion continue today with the overturning of Roe V. Wade.

I came out about my own abortion to break the silence and to shed the shame. By telling my story as a Latine woman, I put a face to the debate and complicated the narrative. I was unapologetic in how I told my story and celebrated my sexuality. I was fed up...
