Oso

This piece honors our sacred relative, the bear.

The bear, known as Oso in Spanish, symbolizes the the power of harmony, balance, and healing. Mama Oso is powerful, determined, and loving. The piece is an ink rendering combined with layered monotypes assembled as a digital collage.

Nature is a large inspiration in my work and has increasingly shaped my artistic practice and activism. After Hurricane Sandy, which hit in 2012, I began to be more deliberately engaged in environmental justice, animal rights, and fighting against the destruction of the planet.
