Parece Facil

This print is one of my earliest works where I began to include personal narrative. The background of the piece is composed by my air travel ticket stubs to various parts of the world, including Peru, where my parents are from. The character in the piece is me, and I have an eye open and another closed. I dedicated this piece to my grandmother, who had passed away a year earlier. Before she died, she told me "Viaja Mucho" (Travel a lot). She knew that the nomadic life was a part of my DNA and that traveling opened new doors for me as an artist and as a human being.

The words on the left of the piece are from a song by one of my favorite Mexican rock bands, El Tri. _ Parece fácil, se ve muy fácil, pero es difícil en realidad. La sangre es débil, el cuerpo es frágil y fácilmente se hecha a perder, la carne es débil, la vida es frágil y en un instante se puede acabar_.

This piece was created as part of a limited-edition print portfolio that my former company, TUMIS, distributed to its top clients in 2005.
