This print is part of a series inspired by the South Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project, the largest tidal wetland restoration on the West Coast. Once transformed into salt ponds, the marshes are now being revived, creating vital habitats for birds, fish, and wildlife. I’ve incorporated the returning species and colorful microorganisms, like Dunaliella and Halobacteria, into my art to celebrate this transformation. Beyond its beauty, the project strengthens the region’s resilience against rising sea levels, highlighting the importance of protecting these ecosystems.
