The Sacred Forest

This print commemorates my first journey to the Amazon rainforest, a transformative experience where I gained wisdom and insights about protecting one of the planet's most biodiverse regions where one third of all animal and plant species live. Over the last few years through my work as a climate activist, I've had the privilege of encountering remarkable women who protect their ancestral territories and the sacred rainforest. In 2023, I joined Amazon Watch's Board of Directors to support the work of Indigenous earth protectors communities who steward one of our planet’s most vital ecosystems.

My trip to the Amazon rainforest was an inspiring journey that left an imprint in my heart and imagination. Witnessing the forest's unparalleled beauty reminded me of the urgency to defend the natural world in these times of extreme environmental devastation. I was deeply moved by the wisdom of the Amazonian women, who emphasized that the sacred forest holds the key to understanding its needs and serves as a wellspring of inspiration for its protection.
