We Lead by Caring About Each Other
This two-color linoleum block print was created to inspire people to vote in the 2020 presidential election, particularly as we were battling massive misinformation, voter suppression, cynicism, and a pandemic.
2020 was a year of revolution, where people from all walks of life demonstrated their care and love for each other by tearing down old systems. At the same time, we were witnessing the consolidation of white nationalist power and an unprecedented pandemic that devastated communities of color. The Trump administration was killing us and destroying our planet, allowing for the unhinged looting of our mother earth.
In 2020, I spent significant energy on creating art that moved people to vote. I helped to create tools to train artists on how they could leverage their creativity to get out the vote. Together with an amazing coalition of BIPOC women leaders, we created “The Storytellers Guide,” which contained recommendations for cultural products. This piece emerged from that guide.
